2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumDoes it strike you that the HRC campaign's attitude towards a lot of young voters is basically THIS?
(that's probably David Brock who's tied up there).

The Albright thing was over the top, but other than that the Clinton campaign has been trying to make their case.

(50,254 posts)That there shouldn't have been any real contest at all, and that their candidate should never have had to move to the left of her comfort zone even in rhetoric.
The "Bernie had no right to even run" meme has never let up from them.

(26,549 posts)"the kids are stupid" or "the kids are too juvenile to understand how things really work" or a host of other ageist smears.
I don't think the Clinton campaign has quite figured out Millennials are around 30 now. Part of their "stuck in the 90s" appears to be thinking Millennials are juveniles.

(81,861 posts)They voted for "Yes, we can" in 2008. Not "No, we can't". In 2012, their turnout was down from 2008, since Obama governed much more centrist than his campaign.

(80,708 posts)Like how Debbie Wasserman Schultz did a great job making a case for the DNC to Millennials-- by calling them complacent, at the same time she made a case for the DNC to people who support legalized marijuana, by suggesting that everyone who smokes pot belongs in a prison cell.

(3,623 posts)And I will just point out that Hillary actually stated she is not part of the Establishment simply because of her gender. That statement in and of itself is sexist. Bernie is a Jew and there has never been a Jewish President, yet you never hear him bring it up.
Metric System
(6,048 posts)And it's a silly question. Bernie is trying to buy that youth vote with his free college. Yeah, we can afford that but no Social Security cost of living adjustment. Maybe we should give all the kids a free car too, huh Bernie?
Ken Burch
(50,254 posts)He gets all of his support on the merits.
We could easily afford everything in Bernie's program if we just once seriously cut back the war budget. We don't need a Cold War sized military machine anymore.

Just thought you might like to know.

(3,366 posts)This would not only extend the solvency of Social Security for the next 50 years, but also bring in enough revenue to expand benefits by an average of $65 a month; increase cost-of-living-adjustments; and lift more seniors out of poverty by increasing the minimum benefits paid to low-income seniors.

(54 posts)Of course it is. But at the same time she and her followers are being agist against against the old and trying to portray Sanders as the old white guy who's stuck in 1965 or so. I think it's pretty odd how she seems to hate both the young and the old.

I'd be pissed and more put off if I was young.
