Settling for proposing tiny increments means giving up all dreams.

It means giving up on making much of anything significantly better.

It means not having any real hopes of a better country or a better world.

It means dismissing and sneering at people who still get out there and organize to change things at any real level.

It means being ok with letting all the passion, joy, and air out of the room, and settling for nothing but crumbs and bitterness.

It means believing that politics should be left solely to "the grown-ups&quot in other words, the people who never do anything unless they are forced to from below).

The fact is, every movement for change we ever had in this country was driven by big ambition, was impatient, was impolite and non-deferential. Every movement that achieved anything, that is.

The only things worth trying to do are the things the powers-that-be insist are impossible.
