The War on Bernie Sanders

The Democratic Party elite has launched a virtually unprecedented attack against Bernie Sanders.

Two stark facts have defined the 2016 Democratic primary since the campaign began last spring. The first is the remarkable success of self-proclaimed socialist Bernie Sanders, who appears to be mobilizing far more support from lower-income voters than any other Democratic underdog in a generation.

The second fact, evident since the beginning of the campaign but even more visible in recent weeks, is the fierce determination of the Democratic Party elite to nominate Hillary Clinton.

With both Sanders and Donald Trump surging in the polls, many observers have framed the 2016 race as one that pits insurgent populist campaigns against consolidated party establishments. It’s easy for this kind of insider versus outsider analysis to become sloppy and conspiratorial. In fact, the contours of “the establishment” are often difficult to define, and a closer examination frequently reveals several different elite factions facing off against each other.

of stating that she will take care of Wall Street, as she takes tons of cash from them. Now that would depend on what she means by "take care of Wall Street." I personally believe that she would give them bigger breaks, the more money that they gave her.
She also did well in stating that she relied on Bush's twisted "facts" on her vote for the Iraq war. Many of us who did our own research came up with the facts that were actually true, and outed the Bush Crime Syndicate on their lies, but the mainstream media never picked up on it. A few politicians, like my former congressman, Maurice Hinchey and one person running for president did listen to us, and voted against the war. Shame on her for helping create what has become ISIL.

maybe you should get off the Berner.

Running for president is hard. You get scrutinized and attacked from all sides, and from the media as well. You are subjected to all kinds of unfairness. That's how it rolls—for all candidates. Presidenting is even harder. The strong survive. The strong, indeed, transcend all the noise. Those who whine or get angry about are not going to make it.

Still, watching those chitter-chatter 24-hour cable channels all day is truly bad for your health--both physical and mental. Really. Watch a classic movie on TCM. Read a good book or magazine. Work on a hobby. Do deep breathing exercises. I've found that a diet of talk TV can be very deleterious to one's outlook on life and the world.

I offer this in all sincerity and with good wishes.

It's been nauseating this morning. I don't usually watch it in the daytime, but today I am, And it has been nonstop yes about Bernie not being a Progressive because of the gun issue, claiming Bernie is attacking Clinton in a personal way, questions about why in the world are young people supporting Bernie, it must be because they see him as their sweet old 74-year-old grandpa. Clinton spokespeople interspersed with republican candidates, and beating the drum about Bernie's vote on gun liability.

It's amazing how easy it is to herd people. And a Fairmount of surprised that there's a debate about who is more progressive, compared to when Bill Clinton was president and Democrats were running away from the label of liberal. They present this as a confusing phenomenon, and certainly would never utter a word about people being fed up with the results of Neo liberal or trickle-down economics.
