2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHillary is going to win. I was not for her in 2008, in fact I was radically against her. I know that
she is the right person for the job. She will pick up where Obama left off and keep the ball rolling in the right direction. Bernie
has a beautiful vision, and calling for a revolution is interesting. He has no explantation on how he will get these people to vote for his plans. Its not good enough to say he will get the people to demand it. We have been demanding it. We are not voting all of
these people out of Congress and voting in all of his supporters.
This is my prediction, and I will preface it that I predicted Obama would win in August of 2007.

(4,387 posts)...the revolution is the answer. It's about more than getting people to demand it. It involves keeping people involved and changing the makeup of congress in order to enact future policies. Hillary won't go anywhere fast without the revolution either, but she doesn't say much about that does she?

(5,599 posts)are part of this revolution? You have to have a plan of action for a dream to be realized. He has yet to explain this
plan on how the revolution will work and how long it will take. We would already have to be behind this candidates and
giving them money.
This revolution is just talk until there is a plan.

(47,803 posts)He is saying that if peopke get more involved in public life and the issues they care about, then the way us paved for specific positive changes.
It is a message to break up the learned helplessness we have fallen into.
That is a lot more constructive than "We really can't change anything siginicant, so settle for the crumbs."

(38,613 posts)"He has no explantation on how he will get these people to vote for his plans" applies just as much to Clinton.
What is HER "explantation on how she will get these people to vote for her plans"?

(5,599 posts)but is the only way things get done between people who disagree. Maybe you missed how much Obama has accomplished.
This is what I will expect of President Clinton. Scrapping Obamacare and dreaming that we will get Medicare for all with no votes
is just nonsense. Improving on Obamacare is the something that can get done. Changing Marijuana from schedule 1 to 2,
is something she can get done.

(5,614 posts)Let me know how that works out, okay?
One thing true she said at the forum. When Anderson asked if she still believed in the "vast, right wing, conspiracy," she shot back "Don't you?" Everyone laughed but it is nothing less than the truth. The GOPukes HATE HRC almost as much as they do President Obama, and for far longer.
It'll certainly be nice to have a woman in the White House but that's as far as it goes. If HRC is elected we will be at war within the year. That is the only policy change Congress will approve.

Correct. She will win the nomination and then Sanders will endorse her. She can beat Trump, Cruz or Rubio. The Republican party is in chaos. I'm going to enjoy seeing Bill Clinton back in the White House.

(13,685 posts)Sanders says: Nine months ago, we came to this beautiful state. We had no political organization, we had no money, we had no name recognition, and we were taking on the most powerful political organization in the United States of America. And tonight, while the results are still not known, it looks like we are in a virtual tie.
That history explains why Sanders emerged as the big winner of the night on the Democratic side.
Coming out of Iowas near-tie last night, his campaign looks stronger than ever. An uncompromising democratic socialist climbed up from single-digit Iowa poll numbers a year ago against one of the most powerful politicians in America to a draw. Even as strong a member of the media establishment as CNNs Wolf Blitzer couldnt call it any other way as the returns rolled in last night: Even if he comes in slightly, slightly second, this is a huge win for Bernie Sanders.
Just look at these actual headlines:
Des Moines Register: "Bernie Sanders finds victory in 'virtual tie' with Clinton"
Mashable: "Hillary Clinton barely won, but Bernie Sanders is the true champion"
New York Times: "In Iowa caucuses, victory extends beyond first place"
The Week: "Bernie Sanders declares 'virtual tie,' moral victory in Iowa caucuses"
The Guardian: "Iowa proved Bernie Sanders can win and that Hillary Clinton is beatable"
Washington Post: "Marco Rubio and Bernie Sanders were the real winners in Iowa"

(2,565 posts)There is a HUGE enthusiasm gap.. unless somehow the GOP picks Cruz, Clinton will have an impossible time in the general election b/c turnout will be so low.
The key to Bernie Sanders is getting people who don't normally vote to turn out and vote, because we would FINALLY have someone who is genuine.
Obama COULD have done this if he had stayed strong between 2008-2010, but he dropped the ball hard, gave in on the public option and left the base out in the cold... so they didn't turn out in 2010 and he lost the congress.
Bernie will not make the same mistakes and will continue to have the support because he will be fighting for the people.
