There is huge backlash against the Sanders's campaign for throwing Astrid Silva under the bus.

Bernie Sanders National Latino Press Secretary, Erika Andiola accused the DREAMer activist Astrid Silva of endorsing Hillary Clinton for a press hit.

Erika Andiola
?@ErikaAndiola
Difference btw showcasing "Dreamers" & organizing w/ "Dreamers"? 1 will get you a press hit, other 1 will build political power
#FeelTheBern
https://twitter.com/ErikaAndiola/status/694921445839921153

The official Bernie Sanders's twitter retweeted the tweet.

Tick Segerblom, a surrogate and endorser of Bernie Sanders tweeted

Tick Segerblom
?@tsegerblom
am i the only one who think its ironic dreamers are telling us not to dream
https://twitter.com/tsegerblom/status/694957262863933440

A lot of immigrants activists are defending Astrid over the Sander's campaign attacks. Even Senator Harry Reid had to step in and make a comment.

Senator Harry Reid
?@SenatorReid
.@Astrid_NV isn't a ‘press hit.’ She's my friend, an activist and a hero to so many people across America working for better life.
https://twitter.com/SenatorReid/status/694987512146624512

The backlash against Bernie Sander's campaign for its attacks against the immigration activists who endorsed Hillary Clinton is becoming bigger and bigger by the moment. I think the Sanders's campaign needs to apologize or the push back is only going to get bigger.

Thu Feb 4, 2016, 07:45 AM
Feb 2016

That should be an issue for all of us. Nevada is a purple state this election.

This is from a good article about the way the GOP went over with Latinos in Iowa with two "sorta latino-ish" candidates.

According to experts, Republicans need 40 percent of the Latino vote to win the general election in November. (Guess how much we need.)

Latino Democrats said none of the top three GOP finishers in Iowa were a viable alternative.

Dolores Huerta, a farmworker organizer now working with People for the American Way, said Cruz would be a "disastrous" president and accused him of having a "dangerously extreme" agenda. She said Rubio has followed in Trump and Cruz's footsteps. "In recent weeks, Rubio has taken a hard-right turn, painting all immigrants as possible terrorists," she said.

Cristobal Alex, executive director of Latino Victory Project which seeks to put Latinos in elected office, called the performances of Cruz and Rubio in the Iowa caucus "bittersweet." He said while "we want to celebrate that two Latinos have climbed to the top of the political ladder," "they've kicked the ladder down behind them so that our community can't climb up. What they should have done is reached back to lift up our community," he said. "Instead, they turned their back on us."

NEVADA is ours (Democrats!) to win. Hillary's on board. How about Bernie?

And though this fear has got them in attack mode, it is ultimately a good thing for Bernie. Nothing like a trial by fire.

Its unfortunate for Hillary that for the second time in eight years, she is up against a singular and exceptional opponent. Her impressive resume, connections and rich benefactors are no match for Bernie's morale compass and conviction. The youth demographics, the fundraising records, brilliant ads, bypassing super pacs and of course, the real zinger... Bernie was on the right side of so many big issues that Hillary was on the wrong side of. Iraq war, Keystone pipeline, Gay rights.

It feels like the stars are just aligned for Bernie. Of course this is all just my opinion. Thanks for making me stop and think about things.

This piling on by some Bernie supporters of total BS towards any person or any organization that has the effrontery to endorse Hillary Clinton is - at the very least - chilling.

The thing is that Dreamers have more immediate concerns than income inequality and those are "real issues" for them as they are not for you apparently. And when activists who have been courageous enough to put their lives and careers on the line to fight not only for themselves but for others are totally disrespected or dismissed, that in itself becomes a "real issue."

So how is that Hillary fans propagating B**S***? If there is any B***S*** being propagated, it has been done by anyone who has disrespected and dismissed Astrid Silva.

Ericka birthed an organization to support dreamers and immigration reform. one of the dreamers/members of the organization comes out in support of the candidate (clinton) who does not support the dreamer movement, much less any meaningful or real progressive form of immigration reform.

THEN, the candidate's (clinton's) campaign holds up the dreamer and touts her support - full on in the face of the founder's prominent position in the opposing candidate's campaign which aligns most closely with the dreamer organization's vision and mission statement.

this is clearly conflict of interest as perceived by the dreamer's organization. so, astrid get's called out...

astrid must assess her purpose or reason for belonging to the dreamer organization because her affiliation and support of hillary is in conflict with the dreamer organization.

why harry decided to step in and think it was constructive is beyond me.

What that campaign is thinking when they do things like this is beyond me. "Let's attack a young female, basically still a teenager, for endorsing another candidate! And then when we get called on it, let's double down!"

You know what? I didn't know who Silva was before yesterday, despite knowing a few activists who has worked with her in the past. Hardly anyone would have cared about the endorsement. But now EVERYONE knows. Coalitions are being formed to protect her from abuse. Her name is being shouted from the digital rooftops as a rallying cry. Do they realize they are becoming so notorious that they create martyrs now?
