Enough: An Angry Tirade

It's really demoralizing to see Democrats against Democrats on DU. Both Sen. Sanders and SOS Clinton have pros and cons. Both have committed supporters. Both have platforms that promise too little and/or deliver too few details.

Both have celebrity support (not sure what that really means, but whatever); both appeal to different demographics, groups, etc.

Instead of demonizing our own candidates, instead of arbitrarily and summarily determining who is the purest of them all, instead of the pure vitriol thrown at a candidate and/or his/her supporters, how about we remember that we have to win against a current of ignorance and pseudo-religious fervor from the other side?

How about remembering that, at the end of the day, not one of us wants to see a Republican president? While we are fighting among each other as to whom is progressive, who represents the people and so on, the other side is preparing to nominate a person who - regardless of his name (I do not include Carly Fiorina as I think she's close to dropping out) - will likely nominate a justice or two to the Supreme Court, one who will not flinch from declaring war on yet another country somewhere in the Middle East, one who will use religion and ignorance to prevent people from marrying who they love, one who will rely on religion and ignorance to fight against the right of women to choose and climate change.

That's what we are all fighting against.

Whether in the end it is Sen. Sanders or SOS Clinton, I do hope that you all remember that we must prevent a Republican from winning the White House.

I get the bad feeling that many will abstain from voting if their candidate is not nominated - and that's a win in the GOP's column.

Please - let's be civil and, sure, let's have a conversation and debate over the merits of the candidates - but don't forget what's at stake at the very end.

Hopefully, I will have my U.S. citizenship in time to vote.

You might know us from other famous conflicts such as The American Civil War, The Hatfields and The McCoys and Project Runway.

The process is what it is. I haven't attacked any Clinton supporters but, in making an argument for my candidate, I've been labeled a Bernie-Bro, a DINO and worse. This despite the fact that I have voted Democrat in every election in which I have been old enough to vote.

I'll vote Dem in this one too, unless someone thinks I shouldn't because I'm not worthy to be in the party.
