2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumAbility to access the Internet: helping Seniors and Minorities to learn about Bernie.
I've seen posts by Hillary supporters about how seniors and minorities overwhelmingly support Hillary, especially the latter. I think the problem that we, as Bernie supporters have, is that the MSM on TV and a lot of newspapers have constantly slammed Bernie. These media venues have access to more communities still, especially the Seniors and minorities, when compared to the Internet. In this way, they've constantly see one picture of Bernie, Chris Matthews and others have sought to propagandize people against Bernie.
The Internet has immunized and made many aware and support Bernie. We need to teach those who may have problems using a computer how to use one and access the internet. As for minorities, we know how many are centered in the Urban core which tends to have awful internet access. Give them that access so they can see what Bernie is about and that number in support of Hillary will shrink, especially when they read her backing of Goldman Sachs, her statements against Bernie on single payer, etc.
Even if they still end up voting Hillary at least you'll have insulated them about more MSM bullshit.

(814 posts)Instead of laughing at my OP how about you point out that access to the Internet has gotten better for minorities, citing links.
I mean, maybe some younger minorities might have access via a smart phone but I would argue past that it gets sketchy.

(20,450 posts)...we're not feeling the Bern.
Some of that has to do with Sanders himself. Some of it has to do with some of his arrogant supporters.

(6,498 posts)Sure, one can find out online that Bernie is a cosponsor of a bill to repeal the PLCAA, but why should they have to?
My wife had a different approach.
She want to hear all of the candidates before caucusing here in Iowa.
She listened to O'Malley in person.
She listened to Hillary (and Gabby Giffords) in person.
She listened to Bernie in person.
Bernie neglected to inform her of his position, and of his cosponsorship of the bill. In fact, he neglected to even mention guns at all.
It made him seem uncaring. (Was he aware that Gabby Giffords was in Ames with Hillary the day before? Did he consider how his speech would sound to somebody who had listened to Gabby speak the day before?)
So my wife caucused for Hillary, yesterday.
She was warming up to Bernie and then his speech unexpectedly ended, and was left unfinished.
Informing voters of a candidate's views is not the job of the internet. It is the job of the candidate.
Here in Iowa, we expect candidates to do their job.
It's bad enough not being able to go out for a cup of coffee without inadvertantly bumping into a presidential candidate or two. We shouldn't have to search them out on the internet, as well.
