2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumJust heard on MSNBC Hillary has to work
very hard at fundraising and she even postponed an event in Boston to campaign in NH. Bernie does not have to do anything because people just send him money like the three million he received the other day. BTW MSNBC has been all Clinton all day today. Only time they mention Bernie is when they talk about Hillary putting down his policies.

(31,170 posts)I'm sleepy so I can't keep up with the spin today.
Problem is, there's some things PACs are not allowed to spend money on. So her campaign needs cash too.

(31,170 posts)The news is just spinning stories to mark time until the debate and the NH vote.

(3,133 posts)it up to the PAC's alone....so she has to raise money OUTSIDE of the PAC's. Plus she has to campaign. The OP point, is we send Bernie money, so he hardly ever has to go into a room and eat rubber chicken every day. He gets to go out and campaign. Hillary has to do the 'fundraisers', because she doesn't have the number of donors that Sanders has. Remember, Sanders has more individuals donating, than any other candidate in history!
I'm sleepy too, from explaining very basic campaign finance to someone here, who doesn't get the difference between your campaign funds, and those of PAC's that are unattached entities.

(102 posts)They don't have any idea how much she started her campaign with. But, we aren't telling.
And you do?

(7,661 posts)they are the ones who reported that Hillary has to work hard to get the cash....

(31,170 posts)They have to say shocking things to get people to keep watching. They use to actually have to be fact based. Now they just slam all sorts of things up there to create drama. A particular favorite of the media is to say crap to get both sides voters fighting. That's always a good news cycle for them.

(7,661 posts)I've heard Hillary speeches from the campaign trail many times today and none from Bernie. He may be resting due to the polls I don't know.
Lucinda
(31,170 posts)He has nothing scheduled today until the debate tonight. Maybe he was doing Senate business today?

(247 posts)In 2008 Clinton had a problem with maxed out donors. She went for a quick knock out of Obama and when that failed had much less cash on hand than the (future) President. Individuals can still only give $2,700 directly to the campaign and her bill for consultants, etc. must be huge.

(26,549 posts)Something like 80% IIRC. I don't remember her burn rate from later FEC filings.
Lucinda
(31,170 posts)She isn't exactly hurting for money right now.
UglyGreed
(7,661 posts)perhaps they are trying to portray Bernie rolling in the dough and Hillary struggling to survive. Maybe a little propaganda is going on here. As I write they gave Bernie a thirty second soundbite and now a Clinton spokesperson is being interviewed, been like this since 7 am today
