WALLACE: So how much would it cost?
RYAN: Its revenue neutral
WALLACE: No no, Im just talking about cuts. Well get to the deductions, but the cut in tax rates.
RYAN: The cut in tax rates is lowering all Americans tax rates by 20 percent.
WALLACE: Right, how much does that cost?
RYAN: Its revenue neutral.

WALLACE: But I have to point out, you havent given me the math.
Ryan: No, but you
well, I dont have the time. It would take me too long to go through all of the math. But let me say it this way: you can lower tax rates by 20 percent across the board by closing loopholes and still have preferences for the middle class. For things like charitable deductions, for home purchases, for health care. So what were saying is, people are going to get lower tax rates.

It isn't that complicated. Our tax proceeds are already $5 trillion short of what is needed for a balanced budget even with Draconian cuts that none of the politicians will ever agree to. And Ryan is proposing cutting tax revenues by another $5 trillion over 10 years.
Fine, Pau. Show us how you cover the $10 trillion shortfall that would result. If you can't do that, at least show us how you will cover the incremental $5 trillion deficit that comes from your new revenue cuts.
It isn't hard. Tell us what you will cut. Tell us what deductions go away.
We have time. Really, it is OK. We can take the time. Just tell us.
Thank you for your concern about our busy schedules. We appreciate your thoughtfulness, but really, this is important. We'll take the time.
Go ahead. Tell us.
OK, if you can't tell us the entire $5 trillion of cuts, then why don't you tell us about $2.5 trillion right now, and then maybe you can come back next week and tell us about the other $2.5 trillion. That would be OK.
We have time for you Paul. Really we do.
If you don't have the answers on the tip of your tongue, that's OK. How about you come back tomorrow with the first set of answers? I know we are just simple, stupid people and it will be frustrating for a person as smart as you to explain such complex matters to simpletons like us, but please, for the good of the country, let's take the time to do this right.
So ... can we count on those answers tomorrow?
