Romney "won" the GOP primary debates only because he was the lesser of the losers but he didn't do that well. He got unhinged quite a few times. And he was confident in those debates. Now he's under pressure to do good and he'll try too hard and it will show. If people don't trust you, which the polls have indictated, it doesn't really matter what you say and how elegantly you say it.

Everybody knows Obama's style...no surprises. They trust him. In light of Ann's concern over Mitt's mental well-being....maybe the debates will be too stressful for him. He gets flustered. In contrast, Obama is always cool, calm and confident in what he has to say.

Do you have any suggestions that I might find on YouTube?

He does come across as nervous when he's in front of people--but maybe that's just what I've noticed recently.

when ZAP!!!! THE LINE GOES DEAD!

I'd love to see those mean eyes grow to saucer-size while he sputters, then he falls to the floor curled in a fetal position yelling for Ann to save him!!!

Thanks for the fun fantasy visual, Turbineguy!

(Of course, given his great gift for saying stupid stuff, the GOP wiring him up isn't fantasy!)

Asked what the "surprise" of the debates would be, the third person said -

"There will be a double nnn, President Obama's teleprompter malfunctions, and so does Mitt Romney." (I forget what the term was which I substitued nnn).

A funnier quip was "It is discovered that Obama has been using a spray-on tan all this time."

The Saddleback Church forum was not an official debate. There's never been an allegation that any candidate has been fed debate questions in advance. Unless the Bipartisan Commission on Presidential Debates is joining the list of "in the tank" groups people here are complaining about.
