It's going to be hard for Bernie to keep pace with Hillary once the states start getting more diverse.
Iowa was a must win for Bernie considering the demographics, but he lost.

(3,411 posts)They just need more time to get to know Bernie. It's probably more of a trust issue (since they know Hillary for a long time but just barely know about Bernie.)
Someone should emphasize Bernie's support of the people of Nicaragua (including videos on youtube) that show Bernie's understanding of the struggle of latinos, and that Bernie was against NAFTA (which has forced many Mexicans to cross the border) and is anti-imperialist, and how Hillary was in favor of American imperialism in latin america with her involvement in the 2009 coup in Honduras.

(90,347 posts)Also, could it be Sanders marginalizing Clinton's left bonafides relates her more to the marginalized than the well off?

(14,449 posts)If he wins, he gets nominated. If he loses horribly not sure if he will pull it off.

(15,951 posts)can you back that up? They are, I concede, one of the most loyally Democratic demographics. For instance, they always vote overwhelmingly for the Democratic candidate. Very few vote for lefty third parties like the Greens.

(880 posts)Besides, people of color do exist that support Sanders. It is certainly possible that the level of support will increase. In fact, this happened with a political candidate whose name was...Obama?? Sanders is not Obama, but to say that the level of support for a candidate in a given demographic can't change - that's simply untrue.
BTW, I hope that Ms. Clinton (and Clinton supporters) are just as supportive of a pro-black agenda after the election (if they win) as they claimed to be beforehand. Lots of slick politicians promise a lot and leave you at the altar when it's time to make policy. It's also easy for white general publics to say they are pro-black when there's no cost to themselves involved. College access and single payer would make a real financial difference for everyone, including black citizens of this country that suffer from constant discrimination and marginalization. I challenge every Clinton supporter to make sure she walks the talk if she's your candidate - that all the love for people of color goes far, far beyond campaign strategy. I WILL be as challenging of Sanders to work sincerely for what's being promised (as a Sanders supporter).

(90,347 posts)... is doing so Obama never endeared her to the marginalized like Sander is doing for Hillary.
I think Sanders would be a kick ass president as I do think the same for HRC...
Sanders words at least don't show this

(10,786 posts)The Iowa Democratic party can't even tell us how many people voted for each candidate. So who gathered this data and how did they gather it?

(34,172 posts)Yes, Bernie is still struggling against the Clinton machine's stranglehold on the black vote within the Democratic party, but he is making gains.
Will it be enough -- maybe... maybe not.
