The majority of a single vote as sacred as if unanimous.

"The first principle of republicanism is that the lex majoris partis is the fundamental law of every society of individuals of equal rights; to consider the will of the society enounced by the majority of a single vote as sacred as if unanimous is the first of all lessons in importance, yet the last which is thoroughly learnt. This law once disregarded, no other remains but that of force, which ends necessarily in military despotism."

She blew a 45 point lead in under 3 months. She's as close to an incumbent as could possibly be. She had every Iowa endorsement.

I could go on, but the point would remain the same: Hillary is a lousy campaigner. And she doesn't have a core inspirational message.

Not to mention she's already a lightning rod for their base to get out the vote.

Bernie is among the most well liked members of congress, both sides of the aisle. What does their attack machine have on him besides his socialism, which people aren't that afraid of any more.

Bernie's socialism, as much as his fans want to deny it, is an enormous vulnerability. IN the Bernie bubble, where everyone is a socialist, obviously it doesn't seem that way. But polls confirm that socialist is a third rail.

It's logical to expect that the people for whom socialism is a third rail are those who are going to be voting for Cruz (or whoever takes the R nom).

Nonetheless, it is sobering for what it superficially looks like. However, socialism has only recently become part of any active national dialogue, so - and you're free to shrug this off, but at least consider it - it could well be that socialism 7 months ago was viewed with less familiarity and thus more fear, than the concept now that Bernie has both humanized it and provided the examples of Medicare, social security, etc. People now have a better idea of what it means. I'd bet you $5 that if the poll were redone today the numbers would be significantly different.

Opinions about individual politicians go up and down, but general beliefs not so quickly. It would be useful to have a more recent poll, but I don't want to bet something as important as the presidency on the hope that people drastically changed their opinion about socialism in the last 12 months.

The other thing is, with Bernie, we've only heard good things about socialism. Which is great. But once the GOP gets in the game, people will hear plenty of bad also.

personal or if it's maneuvering to have a shot a Bernie instead. So I share that concern, but I think the balance is weighed far more against her. Plus besides electability, which I think he wins, I like his values a whole hell of a lot more.
