Clinton supporters, can you answer something for me please?

I've read countless posts today about how Iowa is natural Sanders country, and how Hillary will soar as we move into parts of the country that are less white and less liberal.

Now just a second..

I may be mistaken here, but last time I checked Hillary Rodham Clinton was a white woman. A former First Lady who championed universal healthcare and went on to become a senator for New York. She never hesitates to remind us that she's a 'progressive', and her supporters have lists of liberal sounding things she will do if she's elected.

So please explain to me why exactly this white liberal woman would struggle more in white liberal parts of the country?

there are more minority voters who make up the democratic base than just "white liberals"...these are voters need to win the presidency...not just some white college kids

That white liberal areas aren't natural fits for her. As a white liberal woman that makes no sense to me.

3. It's not what people think, it's what the polling data says

Of course, things could change, but as of right now it looks like we're seeing some demographic patterns that allow us to predict what's going to happen in future states. The same thing happened in 2008.

Again, it's not set in stone, but that's what's going on according to the available data. Nobody is assuming that African Americans are overwhelmingly supporting Hillary, the polls show it to be true. Same can be said about Bernie and Millennials.

I thought it would be sort of obvious to anyone who has studied political history, but here is your chance to undertake an exciting intellectual adventure.

But I'd rather give Hillarys supporters the opportunity to explain.

the issue going forward is that white liberals make up a smaller percentage of the Democratic primary demographic and that by all indications Hillary has overwhelming support among black voters that are critical part of upcoming primaries. Bernie needs to show that he can appeal to enough of that group to overtake Clinton.

8. This isn't about Bernie

This is about why a supposedly liberal white woman isn't a natural fit for predominantly white liberal parts of the country. There must be a reason for that.

Clinton is mainstream liberal. I know that some folks here think you go straight from Sanders-liberal to DINO-conservative, but there are gradations.

It's not so much about Hillary and her demographics but Bernie's and who he appeals to.

But think what you will!

might as well just get used to it. He's honest, strong as an ox, clean as a new born and smart as a whip. Plus he's not afraid of the devil let alone the powers to be.
Bernie doesn't have to change his message to fit the demographic he's in all he has to do is continue to be Bernie

17. A. Because Bernie is more liberal
Tue Feb 2, 2016, 03:19 PM

B. Because Hillary is seen as establishment at this point

This is like asking why Ted Cruz did better among Evangelical voters than Mike Huckabee or something.

Everyone has the groups they appeal to.

The real question is whether Bernie's supporters would support Hillary in a general election, and I think the answer to that is overwhelmingly yes. Just like Hillary's supporters overwhelmingly supported Obama in '08.
