2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI truly don't understand what everyone is crowing about -
Caucuses are massively un democratic, when we have caucuses instead of raw voting (Will of the people) we ALL lose.
There's no winner today, only more drama as we go to the next state.
Yeah I know I'm a debbie downer and this will probably tick a ton of people off but I'm cranky.

Caucusing is undemocratic. Period.

(1,716 posts)I understand the need for momentum. The reason I'm cranky isn't because of the results or anything like that. I'm cranky because both camps are almost giddy over the results when the results are completely undemocratic. I guess I'm not explaining myself too well.

(7,830 posts)Its really frustrating, the way we "elect" our noms. Most of the country doesn't even have a say.
Its wrong.

(34,845 posts)As over-used as that term has become. Iowans decide how they conduct their primary. Criticism of the process should probably be restricted to Iowans.

(14,524 posts)What can't be argued is that it's the system in place in some states for this election. The only positive act I can make, is to participate in the caucuses when it's our time. I would prefer a straight up primary, but it isn't how it's done here, so I'll drag my butt to the caucus and make my voice be heard.
Mother Of Four
(1,716 posts)I'm grousing. I'm a "Your vote your voice" person, even in primaries.
Oh well, what my Dad used to say "Wish in one hand and spit in the other, which ones going to fill up first?"
99Forever
(14,524 posts)My Dad had a similar saying, but it didn't use spit.
And I'm totally with you. The last thing I feel like doing after working all day is going to a caucus, but I gotta do it, this one especially. It's just too damned important.
