2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIs it just me?
The amount of repub attempted voter fraud is being aired and caught on a daily basis.
I don't remember this happening in other recent elections.
Could it be that this time the American people will not stand for having another election stolen?
I sure hope so.

(147 posts)This year maybe they are just more incompetent in regards to hiding it the way the top of the ticket is more incompetent on just about every level.
I still think its the tip of the iceberg. This time around we do have dems with backbones willing to fight though. Willing to have lawyers in place ahead of time etc. During the wilderness (2000-2008)years when there was no real two party or democratic national opposotion. Remaining cautious and hopeing for the best.

(39,320 posts)but, I also think that the Obama team will catch whatever they try to do (unlike the 2004 race)

(36,649 posts)We used to fight wars against people who wanted to take away our right to vote - now the GOP wants to put those people in charge!

(345 posts)In business, if you make a product that has little to no demand you must somehow create demand. The repubs have created all of these anti-fraud (voter suppression) legislation that is really not needed (low demand). They know they can't win this election so instead they are using it to creating demand. Letting some low(er) level activists get caught for fraud so that the public sees a need for their legislation. Just my crazy thoughts.

(39,320 posts)but I think they really want to win this election.
Just my two cents.

(11,619 posts)But we will have to wait for the day after the election to know if the American people will stand for it, or even know if they are conscious of it.
It is certainly the most blatant and obvious attempt to steal an election I have ever seen.

(39,320 posts)means to me that the Obama team is aware and will be watching.
PATRICK
(12,228 posts)Done with impunity too much too often with too many newly franchised eager beavers crossing state lines not really knowing the territory- or caring. Money. Drooling young weasels in black suits with a titillating career in shady power grabs. Like spies, cynical PR ops etc.
Losing. Facing certain loss however, the daylight suddenly increases on these creatures out from under the log, STILL granted media and legal immunity of sorts, mind you. If Romney was ahead or competitive(within the 5-10% cheat range) they would be immensely more entitled, funded, motivated, protected. With others running for cover the shade is decreasing for GOP fraud in its rich multitude of forms.
You are only seeing the most egregious and only thanks to the most active pursuit of knowledgeable activists.
The party pros only are concerned with catching hypocritical examples to establish a narrative, if gifted by someone catching the glaring examples. The overwhelming narrative is still the GOP Big Lie, a true mother of all whoppers, that of the Obama voting ID cheater, a narrative I suspect most of their own party winks at as a neat cheat. In olden times, so long ago, liberal Dems used to wink without much understanding or caring at the Illinois Method epitomized by Daley's Chicago, the big city gaming of richly electoral states.
Instead of realizing that fair media, really representing and uniting the common citizenry and simply guarding the vote Dems would give themselves back a several per cent handicap in many key races this unholy partial gaming and overall destruction of public trust continues. Electronic voting seals this impression in a deliberate digital haze in chugging box of mystery. Accepting fraud in general is the big problem. No matter how spectacular the stories, impunity still pays, the guilty hardly punished, and the whorehouse reopens business as usual after the raid.
The Judiciary tips on wary toes even when crimes are dragged to the bench, the DOJ even in Dem hands is not exactly seen as a practical watchman.
Biden's proposed cure still stands. Get the big money chicken out of politics and these fraud eggs will not hatch.

(17,656 posts)That's what it seems to me.
They woke up after the debacle of the 2000 election, looked around and said 'wow, that sucks' and thought the elections would correct that error in 2004.
When it happened again in Ohio, that was enough to wake up the rest of the people who were apathetic, or just complacent about the elections, and they joined the rest of us who were fighting for the return to fair elections.
Grateful for Hope
(39,320 posts)However, what you are saying is what I believe. The Obama team is aware of the fraud.
They will not get away with it this time.

(14,807 posts)control, lock out any chance of correction and put the "crazies" in charge. This oddly reminded me last night of what my grandmother fled when she came to this Country. Actually I am very worried about this. People like this take orders easily and have no reasoning skills. They do not care.
Grateful for Hope
(39,320 posts)but I think because there is media coverage of voter fraud, it will not win this tine.

(14,807 posts)And where are all of the arrests for past issues?
I have no trust or faith at all should there be issues after the fact. It is a mess.
