2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWell, epic job by the Sanders campaign today. Props.
I'm sad this sucked all of the oxygen out of my guy's campaign, but this is a really stunning result for a candidate with zero institutional support. This will be an interesting season.

(57,349 posts)And sorry about your guy, he's a class act and we haven't heard the last of Martin O'Malley.

(7,006 posts)Martin O' Malley would make one good looking Vice-President and got a feeling --- that might happen if Warren declines.

(7,006 posts)As Bernie is likely just to do 4 years and with O' Malley Set Up as the Next President in 2020, I'd say we'll have quite a Progressive Future, indeed.

(7,006 posts)An O'Malley Comment in the last debate about Maryland being below the Mason-Dixie Line -- would lean HEAVY on O' Malley getting the VP Nod if (When) Bernie gets the Democratic Nomination.

(68,918 posts)I realized the error of my ways during the last debate. I agreed with pretty much everything Martin had to say, and I wish more of us had realized what you did and thrown our support behind him. I'm late to the pick-a-candidate party this year.

Hats off to ya. You had a class candidate and he attracted class supporters.

I hope he will run again!

(9,610 posts)Your guy is a great man. Had there been another situation, he very likely would have had my vote.
You never know, he may still have my vote in the future. He is still fairly young.

I think O'Malley will have a future.
Recursion
(56,582 posts)There's an idea. I'd also love him at HHS or VA. (Or, obviously, VP.)

(7,006 posts)That a Sanders/O' Malley 2016 Ticket is a Winner -- so we might not have seen the last of MOM. Let's hope not as he's quite a good looking guy -- and proved in his campaign a badge of Progressive Honor.

(80,708 posts)O'Malley was nothing but a class act at the debates. His statements stood out, and definitely elevated the dialogue not just for the party, but the country as a whole.

(53,521 posts)I disagree with is strict stance on guns, but otherwise I think he is a good Democrat, light years better than Hillary.

(7,499 posts)Martin ran a great campaign, clean, ethical, and issues based. The O'Malley supporters on DU have been wonderful and are a credit to him.

Interesting is putting it mildly.

(57,936 posts)I like O'Malley. His time will come. He is a very good man.
This election is about jobs and economic justice, and that is what Bernie is about. That is why I believe he will win.
He has made amazing progress. Miraculous if you believe in miracles.

(62,325 posts)he would have been my choice. I am sorry I was hoping he would survive as he added so much to the campaign. I heard on Social Media, but couldn't confirm it anywhere with a link so far, that he urged his supporters to 'join Bernie' and contribute to changing things. I hope he does.

(32,090 posts)for O'Malley. I think many of us knew very little about him and now he has been on the national stage and is a household name. Facing a former first lady and a long standing Senator was gutsy on his part & I look forward to seeing more of him.

(56,582 posts)I do think there's a bright future for O'Malley, in the next D administration and beyond. I'm still trying to decide if he'd be best as DNC chair, VP, HHS secretary, or Veterans' Affairs secretary. I think he'd absolutely kill it at any of them.
for O'Malley as well, Thanks

(17,796 posts)I think all of it was suppose to go to one person only. And that is a shame, a open campaign would have been far more interesting.
