(9,314 posts)but that is what the Hillary camp is saying.
I believe Bill Clinton as an ex-President would be a super-delegate? Does anyone know if that is correct?
Sam
PS I don't buy it either.

(50,986 posts)She was supposed to win big. She didn't. If she ekes it out she's still in the eke zone.
She should never have declared victory while the votes are still being counted. That was bad form.
Not terribly presidential, in the opinion of this pro-Sanders observer.

If Bernie doesn't win NH by at least ten points, I will consider it only a good night for HIM.

(50,986 posts)My comment was from Feb. 1. Iowa is not "Bernie's back yard."
If anything, it's Clinton's -- she was born in Illinois.
rocktivity
(44,577 posts)There was NO reason to expect Bernie to do anything of significance in Iowa. The fact that he literally went toe-toe-with her in made it a great night for him!

They appear to be stuck with Trump, who is a bigot, a loose cannon, a publicity-lapping fool, a racist, a misogynist, and a dangerous cultural throwback.
But he's their boy for now. Woe is them.

(13,776 posts)I think she's not a great politician in the sense of being good at running for an office, but I think she'd be a very good President. Bill thrived on the glad-handing, but it just doesn't come naturally to her. That would probably make her a better President than he was, really, since I think she's even more into the policy-geek stuff than he was. I think he was driven by ego and she is driven by the idea of public service.
She's not my first choice, obviously, but I will happily support her if she's the nominee.

(1,464 posts)Whole Democratic Party, watching Hillary try to cheat her way to a win again may piss me off enough to start supporting Bernie.
The only thing that stopped Hillary from getting the super delegates to overthrow Obama's win in 2008 was black politicians explaining that she would destroy the Dem Party if she stole the nomination away from the 1st black nominee in Obama. Sanders would be the first Jewish nominee but I am not sure I could see Schumer, Feinstein and Boxer having a come to Jesus meeting with Hillary if she tries to steal the nomination again.
StevieM
(10,500 posts)the places that are still out will break in her favor. Mostly the De Moines area.
Blus4u
(608 posts)However, if Jesus was in the meeting - he would probably recommend that she throw the money changers out of the temple.
I crack myself up.

(9,314 posts)Old political maneuver: declare yourself the victor in the race early so the other side will be perceived to be the loser.
Sanders will not concede until the tally is official; if he does declare victory, it will be more than amusing. He does know how the game is played and he is not going to let anyone knock him out.

(47,209 posts)and then squawking to the media. It is a squeaker- which is huge for Sanders either way. His fundraising is going to explode, and they are going to split the delegates down the middle.

(10,130 posts)Remember in '08 when Obama and her agreed not to have their names on the ballot in Michigan (or a state) because they moved up their date (something like that). So Obama took his name off the ballot as he promised the DNC. Hillary didn't. Then when she lost, she counted the votes she got in Michigan when Obama was of the ballot to try to claim she won the popular vote.
How presidential!!

(1,464 posts)She has shown herself to be a small, petty woman who doesn't take responsibility for her failures. Nothing we want in a president.

(11,992 posts)It is disingenuous to count them as providing your margin of victory. If this is what she's doing, she's trying to get her spin out there before the media can possiblt say that she lost.

hughee99
(16,113 posts)If Sanders wants to force superdelegates to change their allegiance, he's going to have to win the primaries and win pretty big. If Sanders beats Clinton by the same margin that Obama did in '08, Clinton will still win the nomination (and that scenario is a disaster for the party).
