13. Which is DIFFERENT than Being a Socialist
Mon Feb 1, 2016, 10:18 PM

as Schmidt said, and you chimed in: Bernie said he was a democratic socialist, a false equivalency

Theodore Roosevelt had beliefs similar to Bernie's, as did Dwight Eisenhower!

The Republicans would rather run against Bernie. Bernie would share Walter Mondales fate.

9. Yea, heard him. I've always kinda liked Steve. I believe he says what he really believes.

And there's no doubt in my mind that he believes what he said tonight. I disagree with him, even though the Pub powers that be probably agree they have a better chance against Bernie. I see that as wrong. Sort of reminds me of decades ago when Reagan was chosen as the Pub nominee. I remember lots of Dems saying "Hey, that's GREAT. We'll win hands down! Who the hell is going to vote for an actor?" Of course we all know how that thinking worked out, huh.

11. He told so many lies in that brief segment, I could not believe it

My blood pressure shot up just listening to him. The problem is he lies so well. You have to follow the details of the race as it is ongoing to distinguish who is lying right up to the last moment and who is not.

I heard him call Bernie a Socialist--did not say "Democratic Socialist" just a socialist and that his top income tax would be 86 percent. That statement alone will peel off the Republicans who were eyeballing voting for Sanders.

But I believe the number was 43 percent of Iowa voters who self-identified as socialist so that should not impact Dems there tonight.

He also criticized Sanders as being too far left of President Obama and said he could never win. I guess it never occurred to Schmidt that Sanders being a lot farther left than President Obama (President Obama is a Third-Way politician -- socially liberal; economically conservative) is EXACTLY THE REASON WHY SO MANY VOTERS HAVE GRAVITATED TOWARDS SANDERS.

12. Schmidt probably has a bias but...

I trust him more than any other Pub to call things straight. My opinion.

He said if Bernie gets the nod he gets a handful of states in the GE. CA, WA, VT and another I don't remember.

This proves GOP wants to run against HRC and actually thinks she would be easier to beat. If they thought Bernie was more beatable, they'd be praising him to the skies.
