Bernie's Meme Scream: "YOU CAN HAVE THE MOON !"

I love Bernie, and I like his vision. But he is certainly offering things that would be very, very hard to pass even with Democratic congressional majorities, anytime soon. This is just the reality. Yes, we need big goals, but goals more immediately achievable.

While his health plan would eliminate private premiums, all you are going to hear from the other side is "taxes taxes taxes..." When asked why it died in Vermont, he had no answer.

Free tuition? Even for the rich? What about that?

I know he has plans to pay for it all, but these are still massive leaps.

Hillary is PROGRESSIVE and has big plans too. Debt free college, infrastructure investment, employee profit sharing, higher minimum wage, full pay equity, making the rich pay a fairer share of taxes by closing all the loopholes, fixing and expanding the ACA, ... It's good. It's progressive. It shares most of Bernie's GOALS and VALUES but just with different ways to get there.

Also, where is Bernie's plan for small business development? I hear about government programs but nothing about small private business. Why not? If Bernie got the nomination, we would hear ENDLESS ads about "socialism taxes socialism taxes socialism taxes...MASSIVE EXPANSION OF GOVERNMENT MASSIVE EXPANSION OF GOVERNMENT.......!!!!!" night and day and day and night. I think it would be devastating.

Finally, Bernie was never a Democratic before this cycle. If he loses the nomination, will be REMAIN a Democrat? Or is he an opportunist? I would like some Bernie supporters to politely address my questions. THANKS

Bernie Butter gets spread all around, but it smells very different from support for Bernie. Very different.

Why should anyone answer your questions when they are not really question?

Please don't be so disingenuous.

BTW, do you know what "meme" actually means? When did Bernie say what you claim is his meme once, let alone repeatedly?

What you are saying, with all respect, is ridiculous. If you asked most Hillary supporters they would say they like Bernie, A LOT. They like his vision. They like his personality. They like his charisma and authenticity. But I also like Hillary, and I just feel she's more grounded, more realistic, and definitely more qualified for all aspects of the job. What's wrong with that?

Those are not compatible with your claim that you like him and his vision. They are attacks on him. And you put one in the title, and followed it with capitals, as if he had actually 'screamed' something.

It would no longer be career death for politicians to fight for single payer health care, for example. It gives us our best shot of a more liberal Congress, and would keep progressives more engaged in the political process.

Or free police protection. Or free fire protection.

Sanders' position is that we should extend free, publicly funded education beyond high school. Why exempt the rich, especially when their taxes will be funding it? In fact, exempting them while taxing them to fund it for everyone else would drive a deeper class-based wedge and make it less likely to pass.

Edited to add: Thanks for a thoughtful, not-insulting OP. This is the way to advocate for one's candidate, regardless of who we support.

So yeah, let their kids have free college to. Although I think they will continue to go to elite, expensive private schools. Bernie is the most likely of the two to support and promote small business. I just fid it very hard to believe that someone who is beholden to giant corporations and Wall Street would do as much for small businesses.

and based on the odds, Bernie's likely to go meet his maker before I do, so does that mean that Bernie is proposing something, and getting his base all riled up knowing that it is not realistic. And as long as he's proposing all the free stuff and increased taxes on businesses and everyone else, it's not going to help Dems take back the House anytime soon. Gerrymandering by the GOP, who have taken control of the majority of all local state offices has ensured that. The earliest we could take back the House would be 2022, the first election after the next Census, when the districts should get redrawn. Anything before that is just a pipe dream.

different.
Bernie isn't offering to GIVE us the moon....he's saying we'll (as in we, the People) have a Real, tangible Opportunity to Work for what WE want to see happen. Whether it's on the moon or earth..we'll have a voice.....If we want it.
You know-being allowed Actual opportunity to debate the issues, compromise...instead of the way it works now-just between lawmakers and Big Money "everything" Only, but rather...you, me, all of them and congress...along with an equal representation from the wealthy/corporate/wall street moneyed interests.

I have no to the death allegiance to party as much as to principle. If party is defined by DWS types and pay to play I feel alienated. The way The Party operates now is shameful. As it represents itself is an erosion of Democratic ideals.
