2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumGonna sink like a rock... but...
Want to please thank everyone for their passion and commitment. No Republicans, ever!. Would also like to offer a prayer for civility, no matter the outcome.
Also a callout for those who are driving, working and striving in the various polls the next few weeks to be safe.

(6,829 posts)I was out 6 hours today for Bernie and will do the same tomorrow. Big hugs for those on the phones, walking the neighborhoods, and driving.

(26,403 posts)That's exactly the intent.
I have my favorite, but to be honest, I value the spirit and civility - it's a long road ahead.

(40,416 posts)Please, DUers, end the childishness. Advocating for your preference does not mean maligning other Dem candidates. That's two year old tactics, and rather transparent. If that is what one has to do to get a candidate elected, I want nothing to do with it.
I will support whoever gets the Democratic presidential nomination.

(6,604 posts)in the destruction of my party from within, I suppose I'd call for civility, too.
Have a look around here.
Ain't buyin' it.
I'm probably one of the most non-partisan people here on DU in terms of Democratic candidates.
To be honest, I'm an old time DU'er - was a moderator on DU1 and DU2 for over 10 years (the longest one ever). I banned more people than I, or anyone, needed to, removed more posts than I could ever recall. More importantly - I saw and lived the rancor of 2002, 2004, etc. Really want people to keep in their minds what the long term really means and that there are real people involved here.

(6,604 posts)that appealing to idealism is a starting point.
If you don't get it, then you accept--willingly or reluctantly--the drift that has taken the Democratic Party so far to the right in the last few decades that it is now is indistinguishable from Reaganism. Perhaps you even welcome it.
Me? I'm sick of it.

(26,403 posts)The Democratic Party has always and remains a party of idealists, not ideologues.
I've seen the Democratic Party drift many directions for each election. However, I've seen people forget that the real enemy of idealism are ideologues who seem to have found a place in the GOP. More so this year. My other point is that while the candidates remain upon the stage, there are real people here who are shedding real sweat, blood and tears. I believe to almost a man (and/or woman) that they believe within their heart of hearts they are doing the right thing to advance the country away from GOP ideologues. I recognize this humanity and send simple well wishes for health and well being. In the end, we are just average people who want what's best. I hope to not forget this.
Hugs

The end goal is to defeat the GOP, whatever happens in between!
