You want change and progress? Bernie. You want more of the same? Clinton
Clinton's argument is that she will focus on change that CAN be accomplished. The question is will she choose to do that? All signs point to a resounding "No."
Her message is "No we can't change." Of course she is not quite that blatant. She states "We shouldn't try to do anything that is pie in the sky and not realistic. I will focus on change we can achieve."
Given the yardstick of she and her supporters, that is the same as "nothing."
Be honest. Every little tweak she will attempt will be batted down by the GOP. The only things she will be able to get through are those things that the GOP approves of.
More gridlock and status quo in other words.
Will Bernie have any better luck? Maybe, maybe not. He proved as Mayor that he is shrewder than he is given credit for.
But suppose he runs into the same brick wall.
HERE's the difference. Bernie stands for things. He stands for a liberal progressive agenda. He will fight back and speak out on clear terms.
So the debate will be on actual differences between the Corporate Conservative CON Job vs. Liberal values and goals that are oriented to helping the middle, working and poor majority.
And if you actually believe in Liberal Goals and Values, you should have the confidence that they are both achievable and inherently able to win popular support. Which has the potential to bring a substantial segment of the public over to the side of those values.
Bernie would spark a true debate that can move the majority in a more liberal and progressive direction.
Clinton? Not so much. The debate would be about specifics, Clinton herself, the stale Den vs. GOP gridlock and empty polarization.....same old shit WITH NO REAL COUNTERBALANCING MESSAGE FROM THE DEMOCRATS. Only "We are better than Republicans. Don't ask us why."
More of the same.
So, yeah. Bernie won't be able to wave a magic wand, and deliver free unicorns immediately. BUT he can start to move the pendulum in the opposite direction, and restart the momentum that once led to great Democratic accomplishments.
