Ann Romney interview with Leno?

She says he is cheap. Turns the water heater off when they leave and when they return he forgets to turn it back up. Telling her that cold showers are not that bad.

Really? Is that the reason he wants her or him to take cold showers? Is it really about the money that he intentionally forgets to turn the water heater back on?

How old are all of his water heaters?

1. Is Mitt an abuser?

I have this strange feeling in my gut that this guy is an abusive husband.. maybe not physically, but at least in some way emotionally. It might be subtle, or not... Of course he has no idea.. But if the Mormons believe that 'a home is the husband's castle' type of thing, if Mitt cuts the hair off someone for being gay? ties his dog on the roof of the car.. disdains anyone who doesn't agree with him, is totally out of touch with himself, is a sociopath...the evidence sure starts to add up to something.

He is cheap at home and cheap about taking care of those less fortunate.

3. Between the two of them they can't remember to turn the hot water back on?

That would be dumber than rocks. They don't have checklists for leaving and returning? They don't have any staff to manage their multiple homes? This is a strange story--it does actually sound like he just likes the power trip of not letting his family have hot water. Also, shouldn't it be turned down instead of off? Is Ann not allowed to turn the hot water heater off and on? Why don't they have "demand" water heaters? Does washing your hands in cold water get them clean? Don't they systematically divide up chores?

If this happened one time in my family, it would never happen again. Something is wrong with those people.

7. And he's too stupid and cheap to get a water heater timer?

$35-55 is all they cost (http://www.acehardware.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3766555). We had them on the water heaters in our old house. The one for the tank in the master bath was set to come on for an hour at a time twice a day, the other one for one hour a day. With a well insulated water heater, that gave us plenty of hot water for most days. Laundry day, I'd just turn on the water heater for the day. The timer will turn off the water heater at the same time every day so even if you turn it on and forget to turn it off, it will go off at its scheduled time.

As soon as we installed the water heater timers, our electric bill went down significantly, enough to pay for the timers in the first two months. In the new house, we have a solar water heater so did not bother installing a timer.

5. Let's understand something. They have multiple homes.

When they leave their "cottage" by the lake in NH, I would not be surprised that the hot water heater may be shut down. So when they return next summer, maybe the showers are cold. She makes it seem that when they go to Costco the Mitter shuts down the heater. Total BS, as usual.

6. I think this is another failed attempt

By Ann Romney to give people the impression that Mitt is concerned about everyday things like heating bills, that he's frugal like all "you people."

There is nothing frugal about Mitt. His houses are ostentatious monstrosities that scream "We have money but no taste!"

When she isn't snapping at the country or supporting the incompetence of her husband, she comes across as much more intelligent and reasoned than her husband. Maybe they picked the wrong Rmoney to run.

you know, like the 11 million dollar beach house in La Jolla, or the waterfront mansion in New hampshire, or the mansion in....

Well, you get it. She is so stupid. Anyone with a brain knows that she's bringing up when they leave one of their MANY homes... he turns off the water there. She's not talking about going away overnight. She's just reminding people how many freakin' homes they have, and how they keep luxury cars and a full staff at all their residences.

As IF they don't have staff that gets the house ready for them when they come home. I call bullshit on her story. People like that have house staff that make sure the sheets are fresh, and flowers are fresh, the fridge is stocked, and the water is on when they get there...

Bullshit on her.
