WATERLOO — Democratic presidential candidate Martin O’Malley received the endorsement of the co-founders of Dream Iowa, an immigration activist group based in Waterloo.

Co-founders Monica Reyes and Nilvia Reyes Brownson announced Tuesday they are supporting O’Malley’s campaign.

“Martin O’Malley is the candidate that I know will stand up fearlessly for our undocumented community,” Reyes said in a Facebook post announcing her support. “It is time for change, and he can push our issues forward. Our community needs actions, not just broken promises.”

The support from Reyes and Brownson follows O’Malley’s endorsement from Iowa’s first Latino newspaper, El Latino, and his support during a forum Monday night for “new Americans.”
