Hi Stephanie,
Thank you very much for your interest in purchasing my property.
I'm sorry for the delay in getting back to you. But unfortunately now I'm getting input on the tax implications of my donating vs. my selling - and - donating the cash. So far it's all just plain confusing. I will be talking to the charity and my tax advisor some more next week. I'm also getting wildly conflicting opinions on valuation (which changes the tax picture and may change which route I take).
If I sell it, I will be using a realtor and appraiser. I know nothing about selling anything, and have heard too many horror stories of what happens when ordinary people, such as myself, try to be their own realtor. I will definitely make sure that the realtor knows of your interest, and I will ask that it be given special consideration.
All the best,

Hi Jim,
Thank you for keeping us informed we appreciate you sharing your thought process with us.
Russell would like to purchase your property and wonders if you would entertain an offer direct from us? We understand the donation to charity. If you sold direct to us you could turn around and donate the cash to charity and even split it into multiple charities if desired. Let us know if that's something you would consider, a direct purchase from us to you.
Thanks again, [/font]

Title: Pls stop saying those who exhaust their unemployment insurance benefits r not counted as unemployed
This is an email I sent to progressive talk show host Thom Hartmann, who is among the very best if not the very best as far as knowing a lot of facts. So it was disappointing to hear him repeat this old tired B.S. meme.
================== email follows ===================
Hi Thom,
I heard you Friday 9/22/12 say in effect that those who exhaust their unemployment insurance benefits are not being counted in the 8.1% unemployment rate (U3).
Unfortunately, this is a right-wing meme that is being used to denigrate what progress the Obama stimulus has had on the economy. (In truth, it is also a left-wing meme often used when a Republican is in the White House).
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the count of the unemployed and the unemployment rate is not a count of those receiving unemployment benefits, nor is unemployment benefit receiver status factored at all into any of the official unemployment rate statistics (U3, U4, U5, U6, etc.). Rather, the unemployment rate is based on a survey of 60,000 households chosen at random. See: http://www.bls.gov/cps/cps_htgm.htm
Love your show, best one on AM 950 (maybe tied for first with Norman Goldman)
Thank you,
Signed ....

(9,580 posts)but he gets one or two wrong occasionally, which is understandable considering the hours per day each week he is on the air. The one that hit me the hardest was when he couldn't remember where the bombing of the Murrah federal building occurred, and claimed it was in Ohio or Iowa (guess he knew it was one of those "vowel" states). I lived in OKC, and worked about 20 blocks away when it happened.
