(20,450 posts)He seems to think that it WILL hurt Obama. This week, however, he has at least balanced the panel. Last week, he had two women on who were against the administration. This week, he had one woman who supported it and one woman against it. I think he and the woman who was against it ganged up on the one who is for the mandate.
Larry O' made some really good points last night with Stephanie Cutter. I wish she had been a bit more forthright with her answers.
jenmito
(37,326 posts)that's true what you said about the last week. And now that you mention it, it DID seem like he agreed more with the woman in the top box. I guess I just see him as honestly confused and willing to listen to both sides of the argument. But he IS Catholic, so I guess he IS biased.
And Larry DID make some great points last night re: health insurance.

(9,580 posts)he's not that bad. I watched tonight, and unless I missed it, didn't hear him saying anything that was way off base.

is not and should not be an issue. Polls show that most Americans--including Catholic voters--favor and USE contraceptives. The issue is with the church. Tweety is acting as though Obama will lose the Catholic vote other this issue. I just beg to differ. He never had the Catholic church in his corner or conservative Catholics.
Again, we'll have to agree to disagree on this issue.
Sometimes Tweety is over the top.
Edit to add: Apparently, I'm not the only one who feels this way...

(37,326 posts)it's also some Conservadems and some "neutral" pundits and TV anchors. You don't even HAVE to move the cursor to see the trend-the lines show how obvious it is. Thanks for posting it!

(57,936 posts)oppose birth control. Methodists, the majority of evangelicals, Jews, Unitarians, Episcopalians, some Lutherans and those who are not religious support birth control.
Catholics make up only 24% of our population. It is absurd to change the law to suit the bishops, but it may, nevertheless, be smart politics.
Support Planned Parenthood so that everyone can have birth control if they want it.

(24,689 posts)the RW attack machine is in full force trying to make this a bigger issue than it really is. There could be some short term impact but eventually this will probably help Obama.

(24,689 posts)Its just that I see a massive coordinated effort among the RWingers to bash the President on this issue. This often works with the ignorant masses.

(34 posts)I don't see how this "war on religion" could do anything but help the President. Access to contraception and the use of contraception are popular amongst the American public. If anything this issue is a loser for any Republican (Santorum) who decides to take on the President on this issue.
