Yesterday the assembled delegates at the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts meeting in Lawrence unanimously adopted the Executive Board's motion to endorse Elizabeth Warren for U.S. Senate.
Your Executive Board did not arrive at the choice without patient and proper vetting. They were careful to ensure that this process did not deviate from our mission to support the issues important to our fire fighters. I appreciate that many of our members have personal priorities that will influence their view of this Senate race, but the Executive Board chose to approach this endorsement based on the issues that effect us all. When looking at our safety on the job, pay, pensions, healthcare and our right to collectively bargain, the choice is clear: Scott Brown has not voted our way. Period.

(4,551 posts)Brown has the endorsement of Ray Flynn, former Boston Mayor, but he hasn't been mayor for 20 years, so I don't think he's going to have as much influence.

(4,551 posts)Although he is a Democrat, apparently Menino does not give out his endorsement to everyone. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think he gave it to Martha Coakely in 2010.
I don't live in MA, but according to people I've spoken to from there, having the assistance of Menino's ground operation to GOTV in Boston could give Warren a valuable bonus against Brown that Coakely didn't have.

(9,644 posts)Yes - I think simply having his endorsement could tip a few votes.
