I proudly stand with Hillary Clinton and Mayor Weaver in opposing environmental racism in Flint

Environmental racism is placement of low-income or minority communities in proximity of environmentally hazardous or degraded environments, such as toxic waste, pollution and urban decay.

Flint, Michigan Mayor Dr. Karen Weaver told reporters that Hillary Clinton is the only presidential candidate in either party who has reached out to her about the water crisis in her city.

...

Dr. Weaver answered:

...

She has actually been the only, the only candidate whether we’re talking Democratic or Republican to reach out and talk with us about what can I do. What kind of help do you need? Here’s what I see going on.

...

At the end of the day, the people of Flint have been poisoned by the governor of their own state. It is time for the country to come together to help and demand answers from Gov. Snyder and his administration.

Marginalized folks have enough problems without worried about being poisoned.

I'm glad that it is finally getting some attention. Other types of discrimination are well known and discussed, but when it comes to the environment there hasn't been a lot of talk.

How do you "place" a minority community somewhere? And under what authority???

This isn't the 1930's and 40's with mandatory Jewish ghettos.

The powers that be place dumps near minority neighborhoods, pay less attention to their power and water supplies, et cetera.

I don't see the townspeople of Grosse Pointe having to drink dirty and poisoned water.
