2. We have to be cautious about NC since polls have been all over the place there, but . . .

The previous High Point poll in August showed Romney (+3), so this does appear to be an increase for Obama. High Point's last poll was done with Survey USA.

There are some old NC polls still in the RCP average which are keeping Romney up . Hopefully new polls will change the pro-Romney average:

3. NC also has to be careful about the GOP's effort to suppress the vote.

Maddow did a piece on this last night where some fly-by-night GOP (suspected) group from Texas tried to remove 30,000 voters from the rolls claiming they were dead. NC Board of Elections is on top of it.

POTUS won NC by less than 15,000 last election so GOTV and watchful eyes and ears are imperative.

then Romney is in deep trouble. What swing state would be left for him to pick off? Indiana is not going to get him far. OH, VA, FL are going Obama's way right now.

5. Obama taking the lead wouldn't guaranteed he'd win NC . . .

But you're right that at the very least it would force Romney to spend more time in a state when he needs to be in other states like Ohio, Florida etc.

I haven't watched the whole thing yet, but I think Rachel Maddow interviewed someone last night from NC who talked about Republican attempts to remove thousands of people from the voter rolls without justification and that they were recently caught doing it in TEXAS and may try it in NC.

What do you hear on the ground there about that?

Their tactic is to make certain that still-breathing likely Democratic voters have to jump through plenty of hoops before being "reinstated". If most of them are denied the vote, it could very well swing the state (and possibly the election?) red. Yet another "Mission Accomplished".

I would say money and time, but I don't think the Romney campaign does real political stops. They only do fundraising stops.

We're not gonna take that state this time. It's still closer to South Carolina than Virginia.

Don't get your hopes up and since we don't need it, it's a waste to even spend any energy hoping it turns blue. If it does, awesome.

So he has to spend money there. If it is close without us spending much money on it then that is great.

a cushion due to voter suppression. We have to work to increase the raw number of votes, even in RED states where we have little to no chance of winning.
