Public school systems are one way we redistribute wealth.

So are public fire departments, public police departments, public sewer systems, etc.

All of our infrastructure and public institutions that we pay for in tax dollars are payed for in redistributed wealth. We could have chosen to have only private schools, private fire companies, and private security -- as many libertarians would prefer. But that's not the America any of us have ever lived in. And that's not an America the 99% would prefer.

That and the fact that good schools turn out well-informed people, who will not vote for them.
