(3,888 posts)unfortunately for most american towns our governments are required to accept the lowest bid on public projects. this about precludes the investment in this sort of art.
too bad.
i noticed at the link, where one can see the individual manhole-covers, that there was not much road dirt to be seen. won't find that in most american cities or towns either.

(1,616 posts)of buildings under construction were painted beautiful colors. The taxi seats had lace on them! I admire the Japanese understanding of the human need to see beauty. Thank you, Japan!
