February 14th and "giri choco" in Japan

Unlike in the US, Valentine's Day in Japan is usually a day when Japanese women give some present (usually chocolates) to their special male friend(s). Sometimes women will give little boxes of chocolates to all the men in their office area, workplace, etc. This is called "giri choco" and is not to be taken as a sign of affection, just as a sign that the giver acknowledges the men's presence.

裏技チョコレート-- literally "underhanded trick chocolate" that's shaped in the form of tools "to tickle a man's fancy". I wouldn't mind getting some "giri choco" tomorrow, but I would prefer something traditional like Mary's
