For the record, I'm married to another loner. We've been together for thirty years. We've worked things out.

3. Thought we were the only "hermit" couple.

It is not uncommon for Mr dixie and me to email each other across the house. He has his den, I have mine.
We appreciate each other's right to be absorbed in a movie or surfing or reading, etc.

Individually talking to people we run into is an ok thing, it is "normal" here in the south to chat with people you run into.
But socializing and small talk in a group...painful. We do not "go out".
Most of our true friends are email and telephone contacts.
Just dandy for us.

I just found this group today too and very happy I did.

I am also married to a loner and we can go for hours without speaking. I love it. The only bad thing is that we actually decided to have kids so we do get involved in some activities and things ... where I wear big hats and try to avoid people for the most part. He's really into his work so he works long hours, I put the kids in school, and then I sit happily at home with my 2 dogs

5. There was a time when I would have felt "neglected"

by living the same scenario I do today.
But that was decades ago.
I have had people comment on how little "together time" we spend..those people obviously do not get it.
but Mr Dixie and I do, and that is all that matters.

I'm not a loner because I'm "tired of being fucked over by other people who want to take advantage of [me]," I just happen to like a lot of solo activities and am very comfortable with being alone (some people feel awkward going out by themselves).

I think the coolest loners are the ones who are also capable of being affable and social on occasion.
