Theta Healing

Last edited Thu Jul 19, 2012, 01:22 PM - Edit history (1)

Hello all,

I just returned from a trip to see an old friend I haven't seen in about 15 years. He and his common law wife were very enthusiastic about being involved with Teta healing.

I listened calmly, described my own practice (zen) and told them flat out I did not think this 'energy' and 'positive thinking' were anything I could accept as reality.

We didn't argue or anything, in fact I am hopeful my friend at least will explore a bit more critically and perhaps look into Zen.

But I am concerned for them, that they will not seek the professional medical help they should if they ever got truly ill or injured.

I'm finding plenty of references from supporters and a few disgruntled people but not much with hard documentation, objective debunks.

There is a BBC story, I will look at later tonight.

Anyone run into this and maybe have some good references?

and were "clearing" them of "thetans."

Then I did a quick search of Theta Healing scam. Oh, my goodness. This bird seems to have picked up all $cientology's legal habits, if nothing else.

This is one of the most pernicious scams out there since it claims to cure life threatening physical illness.

You have to hope your friends aren't sick with something deadly and break free of this stuff. I'm afraid there's nothing you can do about it right now, new converts are notoriously hard to shake. Months or years from now they'll emerge from the trance, sadder, wiser and a lot poorer.

This is a good one to steer clear of. You have to hope your friends live through it.

natural remedies. There is a lot of work being done that shows natural cures work on many levels! My kids have shown me movies/documentaries that demonstrate this.

If anything happened to me like an illness it is what I would have to turn to as I have no money or health insurance. To be honest, from what I have seen up close & personal in the cancer ward, I don't know that if I had such a problem that I would want to submit to conventional treatment no matter if I had millions.

There have been times where I was unsure whether the disease or the "cure" finished of the patient sooner.

With all of that said, the whole "energy" thing won't work but the natural healing path may be acceptable to those who hold such views. Kind of like, you're right, the universe does provide....

.... rather than "Astrology, Spirituality and Alternate Healing" because he doesn't think these things are viable. "Natural Cures"? Y'know, if something actually works, it's called medicine. Most herbs that do contain something that works, also contain a lot of stuff that does nothing or is harmful. That's why pharmaceuticals were invented.

Alas, there is really no way to make someone take care of themselves. All you can do is show them the current consensus and urge them to act in their best interests.

I didn't think of "Astrology, Spirituality and Alternate Healing" I did post in "Seekers of Other Paths"

You're right I don't think these things work.

I do have no problem with using diet and edible plants and such that contain helpful compounds and have proven helpful and not harmful to people.
