I wonder why such suffering is included. Some christians say it's the devil that is causing the suffering, but I say didn't God create the devil? Obviously I am not in tune with the finer points of theology.

It's not benevolent. It's not for us. It just is what it is.

Proof there is no god.... IMHO.

(that and the fact gods are superfluous.)
