Meme of the Week – March 8th

Meme of the Week
Selected postings of Atheist Memes

1) The Bible Is True…

2) This Fragment of Papyrus…

The Rylands Library Papyrus P52: the oldest known manuscript of the New Testament.
The fragment measures only 3.5 by 2.5 inches (8.9 by 6 cm) at its widest and has a most probable date somewhere between 117 CE and 138 CE.
That's all there is.

3) A copy … of a copy … of a copy…

4) Greatest Story Ever Sold…

5) None of the Above/Other (please post example)

Thanks for doing this for our entertainment!

I went with copies because that is something that more people should realize....but don't.

..... so what? Anyone worried about "accuracy" in the Bible will be up nights for the rest of his life... regardless of translation. It was intended to be a "cleaned up" and easier to read version of the English translation then being used. (Imagine how awful that version was!) It's deliberately poetic. And I like it because it reminds me that it's all art and mythology.

Meme #4 is good (and also applies to the King James Version)

Because of some other facts about King James. This is from my geezer memory, so anybody who really knows what I'm talking about should correct any errors:

1. He was so flamboyantly gay, some of his courtiers called him "Queen James." No comments yet from the Southern Baptist Convention.

2. At first he believed in witchcraft and wrote a book condemning it. Which probably led to the persecution of some alleged witches in England, we human beings being the way we are and all.

Then later, his innate Scottish common sense or something kicked in. He decided witchcraft didn't really exist and condemned witch-hunters.

Adding my thanks for your work on this weekly feature. I always look forward to it.

Reason for recent silence - getting settled in after a trans-continental move, and looking for a place to live. Temporarily staying with my mother. She seems to like that Me, not so much...

For the second week in a row, I cannot see those snips on my work computer. I've been able to see all of them using my work computer until last week, but I don't think I'll bother mentioning it to my IT people, y'know?

Gotta remember to look at them on my home computer.

... on "postimage" image hosting web site.

I did not want to direct link from where I found them since the demise of the Atheist Meme Base website.

Sorry for the difficulties.
