but it's all going to their church. If it isn't going to glitzing up the building or buying an Italian villa for the preacher, it's going to bullshit like this.

Charity, my ass.

I'm annoyed they had their grubby little fingers in my mailbox. But I'm just ornery this weekend - no particular reason

But no affiliation to a non-profit scam, just nothing on the book. I want to make sure my neighbors got one too. Just in case. Otherwise someone is trying to convert me lol.

Between that link, and the Nevill Goddard bullshit thread link to his amazon books, this just completely ruined my 'suggested products' page FOREVER.

"... highly educational about both the past and the future. It appears to have about 1,000 Scripture verses and thus it is not just someone's opinion..... This book has brought meaning to my life because it teaches truths from the ancient Bible, which never changes! "

Gotta be a winner, then

That's Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) propaganda. Written by their messiah, Ellen G.White, after she had a vision in the late 19th century. Time has not improved it. So if the language seems antiquated, that's why. It is!

The SDAs do this mailbox-stuffing thing all over the world. I Googled "Great Controversy stuffed in mailboxes" and found lots of hits.

Here's one of the strangest - an American SDA doing this in Japan. He's even talking about making a movie of this nonsense:

10/12 I'm very, VERY happy today! The Great Controversy Between Christ and His Angels, and Satan and His Angels that i've translated into Japanese was delivered to me today It's very beautiful! I ordered 5,000 copies, and they should arrive in Osaka port next week.

Something I learned in Japan - sometimes you'll see a whole bunch of people lined up outside certain apartments. Including young blond guys in white shirts and ties.

Those apartments are occupied by (usually) elderly people who are very polite. They'll let anybody in and talk to them.

So the door-to-door salesmen, Jehovah's Witnesses, SDAs, Mormons and anybody else with something to sell target these nice elderly people. Younger Japanese either ignore them and don't open the door, or tell them to buzz off.

I feel better, I should of googled whether this is a tactic of the SDA's. Thanks for the link I'm going to watch it now

I never answer the door unless I see its Fed Ex or UPS....my dogs just bark loudly. I don't mind if the religionistas, at my door me hear me inside my home....I want them to know I am ignoring them for a reason.
