Yarp, that's some bulletproof logic there. Frankly, I think we're being trolled.

...like some other dizzy-eyed crookspate who thought himself awfully profound in saying "demons" (used to mean "personal troubles&quot DO exist.

Of course, filicidal mothers and fathers don't think their children are possessed by "personal troubles". So much for profundity.

were being substituted for literal ones and then arguments made that hinged on misinterpreting which definition was being used. I guess will see if that dodge is being recycled.

Now we have to worry about going back to the Dark Ages when people who had mental illnesses were (obviously) possessed by demons. Forget all that science-y junk about chemical imbalances or brain damage. It is the boogey-man.

...... what the difference between a god and a demon is.

I suppose the only difference is a god can smite a demon, but a demon cannot best a god.

Does believing in demigods but not gods make one a demi-atheist?

which would be an entirely unacceptable comment were anyone from this group to say it. But he says it and oh how wonderful and enlightening. It's especially ironic given...well, I can't say why it's ironic. Let's just say that ALL of their posts about the mentally ill are just...awesome.

And considering how the other half of that twosome is Enlightened Protector of the Mentally Ill You Filthy Bigoted Hater.....

He slurs mentally ill people by saying they're demon possessed...where's her foaming at the mouth rage?

After all I can't prove they don't work. Besides, many atheists, unlike those horrible ones here, have an open mind about these things.

Ok, I wade through those slug-fests and didn't this time technically speaking. I started with the "money shot" someone helpfully provided down-thread here. Read only that post and all the subject lines thereafter.

I don't understand why someone who can believe in spirit beings of any sort would really think themselves an atheist.

Now I could be wrong about that, but I don't think so. Another strident theist, in my opinion, poses as an alleged agnostic, but again it seems to be mostly done so as to spring a "gotcha" on an unsuspecting poster who has assumed that the strident defender of all things theistic is in fact a theist.

Considering the old Joe South song "Games People Play":

People walking up to you
Singing Glory, Hallelujah
And they're trying to sock it to you
In the name of the Lord.

Gonna teach you how to meditate,
Read your horoscope, cheat your fate,
And furthermore to hell with hate,
Come on, get on board!

Oh the games people play now,
Every night and every day now...
