at least the KJV has a few centuries under it's belt to give it a veneer of authority. what kind of gullible tool reads 'dianetics' or 'the book of mormon' and thinks, 'yeah that sounds true'?

This is not a controversial subject, and intelligent people assume that other intelligent people won't embarrass themselves by disputing its major points, and don't need them demonstrated over and over.
And this is not a blog, it's a safe haven group, where your kind of apologist snark is not welcome or allowed. If you want to continue to post here, I suggest you alter your attitude, or at least pretend to.

(13,485 posts)Just to show how out of touch with reality the bibleites are, King James I who commissioned that translation was a Gay man and was buried between his two favorite male suitors in Westminster Abbey. I think it is ironic that most evangelical believers speak so strongly against the Gay community and yet the translation of the bible they revere was supported by a man who would be the focus of their hate.

(111,317 posts)as the stories they were told as children in Sunday school. Most of them have never sat down with the book and read it cover to cover. Their knowledge of what lies within is superficial at best and they are more likely to use the book as a talisman than as something to be read and considered on its own merits.
I'll never forget my mother's reaction when she finally read the whole thing. It was pretty hilarious!
