Related: About this forumCOEXIST - Let the Worlds of Nerdom Unite!
You've all seen the COEXIST bumper sticker.
The time has come for the nerd version:
Joining the worlds of Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Aliens, X-Files, Dr Who, Harry Potter and Star Trek together
with the hopes of bringing harmony to the universe.
While I cannot solve the worlds woes with a simple t-shirt and there will always be disagreements throughout nerdom since these issues have existed for generations, I just want to present a field where we can discuss and celebrate these differences.
I have a dream.
From the sandy hills of Tatooine, let freedom ring; Let freedom ring from the mountains of Mordor; Let freedom ring from the plains of Rigel VII; Let freedom ring from the hallowed halls of Hogwarts. From every tree in Pandora, let freedom ring.
And when this happens, when we allow freedom to ring, when we let it ring from every alien village and every shire, from every castle to every city in the clouds, we will be able to speed up that day when all of The Forces children black men and white men and half-black-half-white men from Cheron from that one Trek episode, Muggles and wizards, those who want to believe and the skeptics, Jedi and Sith, Time Lords and Daleks, will be able to join hands and sing the words of the old Ewok spiritual, Yub nub, yub nub.
Peace,
Captain RibMan

(6,785 posts)1. No AD&D reference?
Time for a holy war.
I guess we can't coexist after all.

(5,352 posts)6. Which is nerdier?
A d20 or The One Ring? (I would choose a d20 myself, mainly I have some really fond memories of playing AD&D with some great friends back in the day.)

(6,785 posts)7. I'd say the d20.
I was a huge D&D nerd back in the day. I still kind of am.
God, remember the D100s? I was thrilled when AD&D computer games started coming out because I wouldn't have to haul one of those around anymore. Someone would always roll it a little too hard or the table would be a little off level and you'd spend the next hour trying to figure out which couch it rolled under.
