Do you love the Cassini Saturn mission and have nearly four hours to burn?

Then you need to see planetary scientist and Planetary Society's evangelist Emily Lackdawalla's latest Blog post.

Here's what she wrote:

If you were to download the entire catalog of photos taken at Saturn to date by Cassini and then animate them like a flipbook, how long would it take to watch them all pass by? The Wall Street Journal's Visual Correspondent Jon Keegan has your answer: nearly four hours.

Well, there's video here:
Watch the Entire Cassini Mission

Will post video here if I can find a link.

Of course, Carolyn Porco is the lead on many of these images, since it is her camera system which recorded them.

Here's Carolyn's TED talk, much earlier in the mission, a very wonderful thing, as is Carolyn Porco, as is Cassini (less than 20 minutes of wonder):

Enjoy Saturn, my friends.

on edit: from the WSJ source article:

It will take you nearly 4 hours, but if you like, you can kick back, relax and watch this movie consisting of 341,805 images—every shot taken by Cassini's Imaging Science Subsystem (ISS) from Feb. 6, 2004 until Sept. 15, 2015.

NOTE: These raw, unedited sequences at times include rapid flashing. If you have photosensitive epilepsy, or a similar condition, this could trigger a physical reaction. Please use caution when watching this footage.

Relax and enjoy.

And YouTube already has it. Here it is, all 3 hours and 48 minutes of it:

This is science!

So that picture has some history with her, and with Carl Sagan, who Carolyn helped make the Pale Blue Dot image, recapitulated in the rings of Saturn.

View her TED talk, linked above.

She is fucking awesome.

I actually had watched it a while ago.

She's how I found out about that image in the first place. I should have mentioned that.
