What's now known as the Good Friday Earthquake in Alaska caused extensive property damage and natural changes, but few deaths.

One was of a shopping district street, the stores on one side of the street intact, nothing but the roofs visible below the level of the street on the other.

They lived on high ground, so didn't evacuate for the tsunami. She couldn't get to the areas that were hit by that.
