New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has long prided himself on his strong relationship with the Jewish community a relationship he dates back to his fathers three terms as governor.
But that love for the Jewish community apparently does not extend to the Jewish holiday of Sukkot.
In a story about Cuomos political career, The New York Times Magazine reported Cuomos frustration with a campaign appearance at a Sukkot event during his run for attorney general in 2006.
These people and their f***ing tree houses, Cuomo said to his team, according to The Times.
A spokesman denied the comment.

I ain't buying the possibly damning hit dug up from 2006.
That's shoddy journalism.
Print the whole context or nothing.
I'm just really sick of the OMG! journalism.

(54,044 posts)While I agree it needs more context, I don't think there is a limit to these kinds of things. That said, I also don't see things like this as a be all, to end all type of situation.

(1,855 posts)Sukkot is about tents, or booths as the Christians say, not tree houses!
But the act of building and installing them could be a bit problematic, for neighbors and neighborhoods. Erecting outdoor dwellings might cause some access or eyesore issues.
Several years ago there was a big wind blowing during Sukkot that destroyed or damaged many of them, and also caused slight damage to neighbors properties in the process.
I want to assume Cuomo was reacting to those types of issues, and not the actual religious practice.
