Hindenburg reluctantly agreed to appoint Hitler as chancellor after two further parliamentary electionsin July and November 1932had not resulted in the formation of a majority government. Hitler headed a short-lived coalition government formed by the NSDAP and Hugenberg's party, the German National People's Party (DNVP). On 30 January 1933, the new cabinet was sworn in during a brief ceremony in Hindenburg's office. The NSDAP gained three posts: Hitler was named chancellor, Wilhelm Frick Minister of the Interior, and Hermann Göring Minister of the Interior for Prussia.[149] Hitler had insisted on the ministerial positions as a way to gain control over the police in much of Germany.[150]

My point? He got into a position of power through sheer psychopathic deviousness. I challenge anyone to say Trump gained power through totally honest, non-psychopathic means. I dare you.
*deleted text not pertinent to this group* Yes, Trump bears a lot of similarities to Mussolini. Mussolini wasn't AS evil as Hitler. The huge difference between Hitler and Trump is the lack of strident anti-semitism. If his daughter had never married Kushner? Who knows, I sure as hell do not.

(16,079 posts)And just because his daughter married Jared Kushner, it doesn't mean a thing! Stephen Miller is Jewish, and from his own history we know that he's a racist, bigot, and misogynist!
Besides, there were Jews who fought for Hitler and the Nazis, look up ERHARD MILCH!

First, anti-Semitism is prejudice and hatred of JEWS not SEMITES. Trying to rewrite its definition is pathetic. It is no different than someone claiming inflammable means "not flammable" because the prefix in- means "not". Or, just as fucking stupid as people who claim "Islamophobia" is a "fear of Islam" and not prejudice and hate against Muslims. Second, while I agree his daughter's husband doesn't negate his anti-Semitism, what the OP is saying is he would likely be even less restrained in his anti-Semitism.
Who, other than apparently you, gives a fuck about Jews fighting with the Nazis. THAT ISN'T EVEN THE TOPIC! There were black slave owners, you want to pop over to the African-American group and pop in with that irrelevant piece of information in a thread about an anti-Black politician?!
This is the JEWISH GROUP and your comments are not welcome here. Do not do it again! If you can't show respect and stay on topic, see yourself out!
ON EDIT:
BTW, NO, many Muslims are not Semites. Some may be, but many are not. ARABS are Semites, but they aren't the only Muslims. Don't conflate "Arab" and "Muslim".

(5,591 posts)The historical roots of the term anti-Semitism go back to the 19th century when it was invented and popularized by anti-Jewish German writers and intellectuals in the closing decades of the 19th century. The anthropology of that era gave the name Semitic from the Hebrew Shem, one of Noahs sons to a family of languages that included Hebrew, Arabic, Assyrian and Phoenician; and labeled members of groups that spoke these languages as Semites. Through the ministrations of late-century racial science, Semitic was increasingly used to designate Jews as a race with inborn biological attributes. The use of the term anti-Semitism to specifically denote opposition and antagonism to Jews was first suggested by the German journalist Wilhelm Marr in his 1879 work The Victory of Judaism over Germanism, a best-seller that helped push the Jewish question to the center of German politics.

(37,457 posts)1- Who cares whether Muslims are semitic or not ? I wasn't even in that ballpark. Hmmmmmm. I see you got addressed down below by people much better versed than I.
2- I am well-aware that one can be antisemitic and still have Jewish family members. I meant if he did NOT...how would he be?
3- I really could not care less about Stephen Miller, who is a neo-Nazi as far as I'm concerned.
4- You're talking to one of the BETTER informed people on DU about Nazis and WW2. You better step your game way up next time. I was well aware of this already. Don't even try to educate me about WW2 and Nazis. There's only a few here at DU I will accept educating from, and you're not one of them.
5- Lastly, why such a hostile abrasive attitude? Last time I checked, we're ALL supposed to be pro-Jewish at DU.
Sorry if your life really sucks but you need some lessons in coping with your pain....if that's the case.
