N.C. governor's race pits Jewish Democrat against Republican who says he apologized for past antisemitism

When North Carolina voters go to the polls in November to elect their next governor, they will choose between a Jewish Democrat and a Republican who has been accused of antisemitism but said he apologized.

Both parties’ contests were called relatively early on Tuesday evening, as soon as the polls closed. Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, who has troubled his state’s Jewish community with past remarks considered antisemitic for which he has expressed remorse, was projected to win the Republican nod for governor, and will face off against Josh Stein, the state’s Jewish Democratic attorney general.

NBC called Tuesday’s primaries for Robinson and Stein as soon as the polls closed. Stein was the first Jew to win statewide office in North Carolina in 2016, when he won the attorney general’s race. Robinson, who is Black, had the backing of former President Donald Trump, who recently called him “Martin Luther King on steroids.”

Stein, 57, trotted to the nomination after being endorsed last year by outgoing Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper, who is term-limited. He is active in Temple Beth Or in Raleigh, a Reform synagogue, and has invoked his Judaism in explaining his politics.

I am waiting for some Court Jews to come out and defend this POS. I doubt I will be disappointed.

self righteous,Trumpist type grade A a$$hole who happens to be Black. It's going to take a huge percentage of the African American population in NC to hold their noses and vote against him--because he is Black-- in order for common sense to prevail and vote for the White guy rather than not vote at all.

I’m betting more closet skeletons will be revealed… when the rhetoric is so clear, it’s a pattern, not a random blip. A televised debate would be especially interesting.

Mark Robinson: 'I Absolutely Want To Go Back To The America Where Women Couldn't Vote'

In a newly unearthed video, North Carolina’s GOP nominee for governor says America was better then because Republicans "fought for real social change."On Tuesday, Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson won the GOP primary to become his party’s nominee for North Carolina governor, presumably with the help of female voters.

But just four years ago, Robinson said he’d “absolutely” like to return to the days when the 19th Amendment didn’t exist ― when women didn’t have the right to vote.

“I absolutely want to go back to the America where women couldn’t vote,” Robinson said in a newly resurfaced video of his remarks at a March 2020 event hosted by the Republican Women of Pitt County.

I want to watch a certain segment of the population's heads explode once they have to face the fact that they have a Jewish governor. In fact, I hope to cheer it on!

He also doesn’t think women should be allowed to vote!

For the Republican Party, it’s all about the hate.
