UK Supermarket Chain Sainsbury’s Pulls Kosher Goods From Store (and update)
Sainsburys, one of the largest supermarket chain-stores in Britain, has pulled off Kosher food from one of its stores shelves.
The store, located in Holborn, Central London, emptied the Kosher section on Saturday, following protestors outside who called on the supermarket to boycott Israeli goods from its stores.
One of the people who saw the empty shelves, posted a photo of it on social media, prompting an outrage towards the store, with some users calling it an act of anti-Semitism.
Colin Appleby, who took the photo, said that the shelves contained produce made in the UK, Poland, and Israel. When I asked a member of staff what had happened they replied We support Free Gaza. I didnt try to point out that kosher goods were not Israeli goods but they walked away.
