This is the translation in Romanian, the language of Romania, which gave us the Pan Flute. Contrary to popular belief, the Pan Flute is not from South America; it is a traditional indigenous folk instrument of Romania. I am writing these words from Bucharest, Romania. This is the first Easter I have spent in Romania since the passing of my beloved brother in the Pan Flute, Marian Ionescu, who was professor of Pan Flute, or Nai, at the Scoala Populara de Arta, or the Popular School of the Arts, in Targoviste, Romania, which is some 50 miles northwest of the capital of Bucharest. Targoviste is also where the Romanian dictator, Nicolae Ceausescu, and his wife Elena were executed in the aftermath of the Romanian Revolution. I hope that Marian has truly risen!
