Mike Pence Asks Catholic Church To Stop Being Catholic; He Gets His Answer Today
Just days after Mike Pence pleaded with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis to stop being catholic by not to settling a Syrian refugee family of four to the area, Mike got his answer today when the Archdiocese released this statement announcing it will in fact continue to
well..do what catholics do.
Joseph W. Tobin, Archbishop of Indianapolis, released the following statement.
I would like to bring you up to date regarding the question of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis resettling a family of refugees from Syria. The family arrived safely in Indianapolis last night.
I thank Governor Pence for meeting with me last Wednesday, when I was able to explain in some detail the plight of this family as well as the role of the Archdioceses Refugee and Immigrant Services program in welcoming them to Indianapolis, where the family already has some relatives. I listened to the governors concerns regarding security and prayerfully considered his request that we defer from welcoming them until Congress had approved new legislation regarding immigrants and refugees. I informed the Governor prior to the familys arrival that I had asked the staff of Catholic Charities to receive this husband, wife and their two small children as planned.
