I was actually grateful not to hear something from the pulpit this weekend, though I don't know if that had more to do with the celebrant or the parish's approach.

Frankly reading that the church hierarchy has chosen to associate the protests with the feast days of St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More put a bad taste in my mouth, just as Cardinal Dolan's letter, permeated with a strong air of victimhood, did. It's one thing to claim First Amendment rights, another to invoke the very real threat of maryterdom in the reign of Henry VIII.
