Theta Healing

Hello,

Is anyone here familiar with Theta Healing?

I'm finding plenty of websites in support of this practice I would like to find objective evaluations.

This is not for myself, true or not it is not a practice that would work for me. I am concerned about a friend.

I googled it, and just skimmed the results without looking at any of the pages. Most seemed to be of practitioners and nothing really about it.

As best i can see, it's another form of energy healing, like Reiki, Violet Flame, Quantum Touch, and so on. Each has their own way of doing pretty much the same thing.

If, however, you're concerned that your friend is in a cult or something similar, maybe add that to your search terms and see what comes up.

Or, get a session in Theta Healing, and use that opportunity to pick the practitioner's brain. I've certainly done that with forms of healing I wasn't familiar with, whether it's traditional medicine or natural/energy healing. Be civil and genuinely interested and you'll learn something about it that you likely won't get online

to the word Theta.

Not sure if that's what you mean, though.

they really aren't related at all. As I understand it in Scientology, "Thetans" are an alien influence, or something like that.

"Theta" on the other hand, has to do with the third (or fourth) brainwave state, often at the level of consciousness known for REM sleep.

And, having finally connected this in my own head, I did a search on "theta healing" along with "brainwaves" and discovered that's exactly what it's about. Here's a bio on the founder of this type of healing:

The Power of Theta Brainwave to Heal

It's still a form of energy-healing, perhaps guided by some faith, but also mixed with the use of the theta brainwave state. Binaural beats allow people to get into these states without falling asleep, so it's at least backed by that kind of scientific research

although I prefer to think of it more as educating

Brainwave manipulation is, well, basically, fun. There are plenty of tools out there to help, including some free ones, such as BWGen and Gnaural. Start with those and see what you can do for relaxation and other uses
