False alarm for the moment at least for Domingo

Last night, shortly before bedtime, Domingo "woke up" looking as if she'd just had a very restful nap. Smooth feathers, bright-eyed again.

She looks good again this morning...except I can see the outline of yet another egg forming. I'm going to separate her from Sage today, and keep them apart at least for a little while. She cannot keep having eggs every other day. Since her body doesn't seem to know when to quit, I'll have to do it for her.

Thank you all for the well wishes. She's not out of the woods, but if she makes it past the new egg and has a break for a while, she'll probably be ok for the time being.

You guys are the best!

When I htought about getting a bird friend, my choice would have been a sun conure. I read all about them and they have the most amazing personalities. And they are so beautifully colored. Gouldian finches are another favorite.

But I didn't get a bird. I got a chameleon.

And quiet.

Suns are beautiful, but loud, with voices like fingernails on a chalkboard. But they love the sound of their own voices, so are very, very vocal. The good news is any would-be burglar would probably get the heebie-jeebies and run for his life. The bad news is when Domingo gets going, Cody the cockatoo starts yelling "Stop it! Stop it!" before I get a chance to!

Some of the other conures are less brilliantly colored, but also much quieter. They all make very affectionate companions and are well-adapted to a domesticated life.

Gouldians are also beautifully colored little dudes. My fischer's love birds, Peaches and Papaya, were gorgeous as well: citrus yellow, orange, red-orange and green with bright red beaks.
